I also just bought a nifty "How To Draw Manga" book, and am thusly [url=http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v89/LovelyConcerto/drawingfortehdumz0rz2.jpg]practicing drawing people[/url] using the methods I'd always known about but had never actually learned how to use properly. ^^;
I don't ever really draw with the body segments sketched out beforehand, and as a result I have to be very careful with my proportions. This does not bother me, however... the only thing I really need to learn to do is shade properly.
I don't think professional artists actually draw the full-blown guide before drawing - that was just a practice session. ^^ The idea of the guides is to practice it until you can draw the shapes and proportions without having to add the guides. I was getting reeeeeeeally tired of having to take so much time and effort to get half-way decent positioning and proportioning, so I caved and bought the How To book. :) Come to think of it, following the guides might help with shading - the book I got encourages thinking about the person/object you're drawing as a 3-D object, and shows how to use perspective to do that. Plus, having the body segments clearly defined helps give a better idea of how the body's shaped, helping to show where shading should start and how it should change depending on the position of the rest of the body (or parts of it, anyway). I find picking a direction for the light source and STICKING with it is the hard part. ^^;;;

One new drawering; Rockman X in armor I sort of took some creative liberties with. ^^;; Not a WHOLE lot, but some nonetheless. :3 I have two, actually - the original, which I inked and is the one I linked to, and one which is a pencil copy in case I messed up the original XD. I put "Rockman X" in letters kinda like those you see in the title screens of the games on the copy, but I didn't feel like scanning it. Maybe later. ^^;

Woo! More piccies! ... well, updated piccies. <<; Uh, anyway, I colored my Rockman Rockman! pic in MSPaint (I'm not very happy with the face, but other than that I think it turned out pretty well), and I "colored" my custom-armor Rockman X picture in pencil (so, it's all grey, but it gives a better idea of what should be colored how). Plus, femme Axl. ^^;; I have a reason, I swear! XP I'm throwing together a "what if?" type story (just for fun), and I just randomly decided Axl should be a girl. (I didn't say I had a GOOD reason. XP) I used the name "Accele" because I heard somewhere it's either the Japanese equivelent of Axl's name or a variation of it - I liked it so I kept it. ^^;;
New pics. I got art stuffs for Christmas, so I had to try 'em out. :D
Anyhoo, in addition to the art stuffs, I also FINALLY got MegaMan NT Warrior #9, which features the debut of Tomahawkman and Colonel (in the manga, anyway). Tomahawkman's funny. XD He's taunting Mega and Protoman, trying to get them to use DoubleSoul and fight him, so he uses little finger puppets to mock them. XD XD XD I found it so funny, I had to try and draw it - sadly, only the P-O'ed Blues in the bottom right corner (and the widdle bitty Mega) are my additions - the other stuffs pretty much straight from the manga.

Long story short, this pic came about as I was wondering what it would be like if Netto and Rockman ever met their Beyondard doubles. The next thought I had was, for some reason, "Wouldn't it be cool if Saito was there instead of Netto?" and thusly I drew what I thought Saito would look like. :3
I doubt anyone else here watches EXE:Beast raws, so I'll just add this: Currently, our heros are in a parallel world - Beyondard - in which viruses run rampant and Net Navis can be substantiated. This parallel world also has doubles of all the Navis and people from their original world - thusfar, appearances have been made by [spoiler]Barrel & Colonel, which is especially surprising considering the ending of Stream, and Narcy and Videoman[/spoiler], and [spoiler]Gutsman, Darkman, Numberman, Sparkman, Pharoahman, Snakeman, Plantman, Flameman, Freezeman, Stoneman, Gateman, Quickman, Swallowman, Junkman, Whaleman (who was in the very first season of EXE), and Punk[/spoiler]. 90% of the Navis can [spoiler]go Beast Out - were-Navis[/spoiler]! The first one features X watching on in stunned disbelief as Zero and Ken's hair have a bit of a tiff. And yeah, the one on the right is supposed to be Ken. I don't know if it's apparent or not, though. I don't have any practice drawing Ken, except for one time where I drew Kirby as Ken... but, uh, that's another story. ^.^;;
This is almost entirely my brother's fault. For some reason, while we were playing SSFA3, my brother came up with the brilliant idea that Ken and Zero's hair should have a fight. O_O; (Maybe [url=http://www.stage-select.com]Stage Select[/url] had something to do with it, too. There was that hilarious Reader's Corner comic where Zero ends up scolding his hair for running away. XD)

@Alastor:: Yup. =D Took forever. xP It wasn't really difficult, it was just... picky. Detail-y stuff. =/ It's easier if you save it like so: Monochrome Bitmap -> regular Bitmap -> PNG, then color it (and, uh, delete the excess bitmaps). Leaves the outlines and removes the scruffy bits. =)

Did X's Shoulder Angel and Shoulder Devil turn out okay? (i.e., are they clear enough that it's apparent they're a Shoulder Angel and a Shoulder Devil?) And is it easy enough to figure out who's who? If not, do you have any suggestions as to how I could make it clearer? (I need to know these things, otherwise all the mistakes will be permanent when I continue working on it. >.<) (For the record, the swim suit thief is Axl, the victim is Alia, and Zero and Layer are in the back. It should be obvious which one's X. =D)

As far as enlarging the image, the original scan is 3253x2552, so it got really distorted when I shrank it to a managable size. >.O I think my best hope for clearing up the angel and devil is probably to just tidy them up; it's probably impossible to tell, but they're supposed to be wearing X's armor, sans helmet. Thusly, making THAT a bit more obvious, along with the angel/devil features, should help. =) The devil also has pompoms. >w<

I can really only do one fun/creative thing at a time, and I can usually only stick with it for a month or two - usually, the focuses are drawing, writing, or comics, depending on what I've been watching, playing, or reading. I don't show the writing, so if I'm not drawing or comicking, that's where I am. xD
I've been focusing more on the drawing since... June-ish? Before that, comics. Then the last two weeks were flip-flopping from writing to drawing and back (more specifically, drawing characters [SIZE="1"]for [/SIZE]my writing). So, I think the next phase will be comics, and it should be soon, especially since I found my makeshift storyboards. =D (I can't even begin to properly thank you guys for sticking with me and my comics during the often month-long dry spells. ^^;; )
If you look, there's a big gap in this thread from 04-07-2006 to 06-03-2006. And if you look at the updates log at F:TSK, you'll see I get a ton of inspiration all at once, update for about a month, then drop out for a month or two at a time. Maybe I should take pride in my ability to be consistantly inconsistant? ^^;;;

Ha, I really liked the Anger Management one. The curses make it that much better. The casual Forte was very well drawn, but I was kind of creeped out by the fact that one arm is shorter than the other, and that neither arm has a hand. O_o

It's inspired by the MMZ4 ending. Poor Ciel. ;_; (All together now! "AWWWWW~!") And the title is from the music; the theme that plays after the last battle but before the credit rolls is called "Ciel d'aube". "Ciel" means "sky" and "aube" is "dawn", so... yeah. "Sky of Dawn." =)

Edit: I agree with Linko about the Sonic/Shadow things being filler art for F:TSK. SJ is like 85% horrible Sonic comics, after all.
